Railers steal point in 4-3 OT loss in Reading

One wouldn’t immediately think that a team that lost two one-goal leads could really steal a point in a game, but when you’re missing three of your four top scorers and using a fourth string goaltender who hasn’t won an ECHL game this season in a building where you gaining any points has historically been an issue, the Worcester Railers grabbing a point in a 4-3 overtime loss Saturday night was pure larceny.

Daylan Kuefler, John Copeland, and Blade Jenkins all scored for the Railers, while Kaden Fulcher saved 34 of the 38 shots he faced.

This writer was at the watch party at The District, and like many of the others there enjoyed the “party” aspect of the night as opposed to the “watch” portion. Because of that, and a headache that can easily be explained, we’re going to go old school and just plop some highlights into the post and move on. The two teams meet one more time this weekend, a 3pm puck drop before the New Year’s Eve partying begins.

GAME NOTES
Scratches for the Railers were Ashton Calder (upper body), Todd Goehring, Christian Krygier (IR/upper body), Tristan Lennox (IR/lower body), and Jack Quinlivan (IR/lower body). John Muse was the backup goaltender. With Calder out Brendan Robins moved back to forward, and Mike Higgins made his ECHL debut.

The three stars of the game were:
1. REA – 37 Matt Brown
2. REA – 16 Shane Sellar
3. WOR – 19 Blade Jenkins

The 210Sports Player of the Game was Kaden Fulcher.
