The Worcester Railers finished off their six-game, two-week road trip to Florida Saturday night as they faced off against the Everblades at Hertz Arena, and the Railers took a one-goal lead into the final period before completely forgetting how to play hockey and allowed three goals in the final 20 minutes to lose 5-3.
Since the Railers mailed it in during the final period Saturday we’ll do the same here and just post the highlight package the Everblades post on YouTube.
The Railers return to the DCU Center next Saturday for a game against the Trois-Rivières Lions.
GAME NOTES
Scratches for the Railers were Ashton Calder (unknown injury), John Copeland (IR/unknown), Ryan Dickinson, Tristan Lennox (IR/lower body), and Ryan Verrier (IR/upper body). John Muse was the backup goaltender.
The Reece Newkirk watch continues as the forward was once again a scratch for the Bridgeport Islanders.
There is no Worcester connection to the following story, but it’s still worth taking note. Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) forward Cody Hodgson, playing on a PTO, recently scored his first pro goal in eight years. Why the long length of time between goals? It’s because he had to retire at age 26 due to a rare muscle disorder. Now aged 34, Hodgson is making a comeback.
The three stars of the game were:
1. FLA – 22 Joe Pendenza
2. FLA – 27 Sean Josling
3. FLA – 18 Mark Senden
The 210Sports Player of the Game was Cristian Krygier.
