After two days off for the Futures Collegiate Baseball League’s All-Star Game that saw Brady Stuart, Cody Smith, Owen Pincince, and Dylan LaPointe all representing the Bravehearts and WooBall infielder Jackson Marshall winning the Home Run Derby Worcester got an unexpected night off Wednesday when field conditions at Fitton Field forced a postponement of their game against Brockton.
It was Camp Day on Thursday as the Bravehearts hosted Nashua in a matinee, and despite scoring eight runs in the seventh inning WooBall couldn’t hold on to the lead and lost 9-8 in 10 innings.
Down four heading into the home half of the seventh The Bravehearts got their first run on a Preston Irby sacrifice fly. Two batters later Nolan DeAndrade‘s double scored two more. Jackson Marshall then laced a two-run single, and Alejandro Soriano followed with a two-run homer. Max D’Alessandro doubled and then scored on Henry DiGiorgio‘s single.
The Silver Knights would tie the game in the next frame, and then score in the tenth to win.
Worcester’s slump continued Friday night at New Britain Stadium against the Bees as WooBall once again ended up in the loss column after being defeated 7-2. The Bravehearts’ runs came on a sixth-inning Jackson Marshall RBI single and a ninth-frame Preston Irby RBI double.
Highlights/Interviews
Saturday was a rare weekend off day for WooBall, and on Sunday it was west to Forest Park in Springfield, MA as the Bravehearts visited the Westfield Starfires where Worcester fell behind early and couldn’t catch up in a 9-4 loss. WooBall’s runs came on a Ronan Donohue fourth-inning two-run homer and a fifth-frame two-run shot by Alejandro Soriano.
