Last week the Worcester Red Sox went 5-2 against the Syracuse Mets (NY Mets) at Polar Park, keeping pace with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (NY Yankees) and remained tied for the top spot in the International League’s East Division second half standings. The IL has an incredibly dumb playoff system, and the only way the WooSox can clinch a post-season berth is to sweep Lehigh Valley next week, have Columbus be swept by Toledo, and have the RailRiders lose at least one game.
