Thanksgiving sees many former Worcester pros at the top of their leagues (2024-25 edition)

As we pass Thanksgiving Day it’s time to take our first look at how some current and former Worcester pro players are doing statistically during the 2024-2025 season. For the North American pro leagues, any player in their league’s top 20 gets a mention. For the European leagues, it’s the top ten. Goaltenders are listed only if they meet their league’s qualifying minimums.

All of the stats and rankings are as of November 28th.

We’ve got just two NHL entries to the list with Vegas’ Tomas Hertl tying for third with six power play goals and Seattle’s Yanni Gourde‘s 32 penalty minutes tied for 11th.

In the AHL, two goaltenders make the listing, starting with Springfield’s Colten Ellis getting two mentions. First, he tied for 12th place with five wins, and his second is his .921 save percentage, landing him alone in 12th place. Charlotte’s Ken Appleby‘s 2.64 goals against average is 19th best in the league.

For the ECHL two current Railers make the posting, starting with captain Anthony Repaci‘s four mentions. His two overtime goals tie for best in the league, his 11 goals tie for second best, his three power play goals tie for seventh, and his 18 points tie for ninth. Goaltender Henrik Tikkanen hits the list three times as his two shutouts tie for second, his 2.42 goals against average rank 16th, and his .918 save percentage ranks 18th.

Two former Railer skaters also make the listing, with Fort Wayne’s Yanick Turcotte leading the league with 70 penalty minutes and Maine’s Jimmy Lambert tying for seventh with three power play goals. Former WorSharks netminder Aaron Dell, now with Wichita, is tied for 16th in the ECHL with four wins.

In the SPHL, Quad City forward Tommy Tsicos has six goals, tied for seventh in the league, and Carlos Fornaris of Peoria and Dominick Procopio of Huntsville are tied with several others for 13th with a plus-six rating. Current Railer Kolby Johnson had 30 penalty minutes with Pensacola, ranking seventh. His Ice Flyers teammate Tim Faulkner has 25 penalty minutes, which ties for 12th.

In the European leagues, Max Newton leads the DEL2 with 32 points and is tied for the league best at plus-20. His 13 goals are tied for second. Jon Matsumoto leads the DEL2 with 21 assists, his 30 points rank second, and his plus-15 ranks ninth. Over in the EIHL, Mitchell Balmas‘ eight goals are tied for fifth, and Sacha Guimond leads the league at plus-17.

Garet Hunt‘s 47 penalty minutes rank third in the Erste Liga, and Jacob Hayhurst‘s 21 points tie for tenth in Hockey Allsvenskan. In Slovakia, Collin Adams ranks seventh at plus-12 and Sena Acolatse leads the league with 93 penalty minutes.

Nick Saracino makes the listing three times in the ICEHL, tying for fourth with 23 points, tying for eighth with nine goals, and tying for tenth with 14 assists.

And finally, Harri Sateri has three entries in the Swiss NL, with his 1.98 goals against average and .939 save percentage both ranking second and his nine wins tying for fifth.
