Giving this another try this week. As a reminder, this is just my picks. If you disagree on what I’ve got, feel free to make your argument in the comments.
#1 – Clemson (6-0) Last week: #1
A 28-14 home win over Wake Forest is good enough for the defending National Champions to keep the top ranking. The Tigers look to have a relatively easy path to the College Football Playoff, but in college football anything can happen. They travel to Syracuse (3-3) in week seven.
#2 – Alabama (6-0) Last week: #2
Most, if not all, the polls will have Alabama on top, but here on 210Sports the Crimson Tide will have to hope Clemson slips to claim their spot on top. In week six Alabama defeated Texas A&M 27-19 at College Station, TX. They are idle in week seven.
#3 – Penn State (6-0) Last week: #4
Michigan’s loss is Penn State’s gain as the Nittany Lions cruised over Northwestern 31-7 to jump one spot in the rankings. Penn State now takes two weeks off before they play Michigan and Ohio State in back-to-back weeks. By the end of October we’ll know if they’re for real or not.
#4 – Georgia (6-0) Last week: #4
The Bulldogs thrashed Vanderbilt 45-14 in week six, and that was enough to jump one spot. Had Penn State won a little less convincingly Georgia could have been a candidate to launch into the top three. Two more big SEC games to go for the Bulldogs, but in week seven it’s lowly Missouri (1-4).
#5 – Washington (6-0) Last week: #7
Losses by Michigan and Oklahoma get the Huskies into the top five. The big games in Washington’s remaining schedule are in the last few weeks, so barring an upset for now they should comfortably remain within striking distance of the NCAA playoff. They are idle in week seven.
#6 – Wisconsin (6-0) Last week: #8
Week six: beat Nebraska 38-17
Week seven: vs Perdue (3-2)
#7 – Ohio State (5-1) Last week: #9
Week six: beat Maryland 62-14
Week seven: at Nebraska (3-3)
#8 – Michigan (4-1) Last week: #3
Week six: lost to Michigan State 14-10
Week seven: at Indiana (2-2)
#9 – Miami (FL) (4-0) Last week: not ranked
Week six: beat Florida State 24-20
Week seven: vs Georgia Tech (3-1)
#10 – Washington State (5-0) Last week: not ranked
Week six: beat Oregon 31-10
Week seven: at California (3-3)
Dropped out from last week:
Oklahoma (#6) lost to Iowa State 38-31
Oklahoma State (#10) was idle
