Wade Murphy named 210Sports “Railers Player of the Week”


The first ever 210Sports “Railers Player of the Week” goes to Wade Murphy for scoring the first goal in franchise history. Murphy finished the week, which was just the single game Saturday, with a power play goal and +1 rating.

Wade Murphy joins the Worcester Railers HC after finishing his last season with the Arizona State University Sun Devils and going on to make his ECHL debut with the Manchester Monarchs, playing in 14 games and posting two goals, four assists, and 15 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot, 190lb Victoria, BC native made his college debut for the University of North Dakota and played two seasons (2013-14 and 2014-15), before transferring to the University of Arizona, where he finished with 31 games played and recorded nine goals, 11 assists, and 30 penalty minutes during the 2016-17 season.

Before college, the 23-year-old Murphy spent four seasons playing in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) for the Victoria Grizzlies and Penticton Vees, for a total of 172 games played, 69 goals, 112 assists, and 148 penalty minutes. Murphy served as alternate captain in his last season with the Vees, and recorded five goals, six assists, and 12 penalty minutes in 15 playoff games.

Murphy was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the seventh round, 185th overall, in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

The 210Sports Railers Player of the Week goes to the player who performed best over the course of the previous seven days or who reached a personal or team milestone.
