Blades Preview: at Markham, October 13 & 14, 2018

The Worcester Blades make their 2018-19 season debut this weekend, facing off with a pair of games against the Canadian Women’s Hockey League 2018 Clarkson Cup Champion Markham Thunder.

I’m going to be honest here, I have no idea what to expect from the Blades this season. I haven’t had a whole lot of time to really look into the team or the league, but the little I do know makes it sound very exciting.

I have had a couple of conversations with players during events, although I went out of my way to not tell them I was a blogger. I wanted to see how they interacted with a fan that came up to them saying he knew nothing about women’s hockey. The sheer excitement both showed in answering my questions was infectious.

The Blades had a couple of preseason games, and after talking to the players I really feel like I missed something when I forgot about their first exhibition game, and I probably should have made time to watch the second. I’ve got a lot of stuff going on now, but I’m absolutely going to make time for some of their games.

Their home opener is next Saturday at 3pm at Worcester Ice.
