Last week the Worcester Red Sox took a trip west to Syracuse to take on the last place Mets at NBT Bank Stadium, and while the Mets are still at the bottom of the International League East standings they knocked the WooSox down a couple spots by nearly sweeping Worcester, winning five of the six games against the Sox.

Unsung heroes: Connor Seabold struck out 5 and allowed just four hits in six innings of work.

Big hits:
Ryan Fitzgerald 1st inning two-RBI sacrifice fly. (No video)
What went wrong: WooSox offense was mostly silent again in game two, getting just four hits in the second game.
Unsung heroes: Jeter Downs 1-2 with two walks and a run scored.
Thursday
Syracuse 10, WooSox 8

Yolmer Sanchez 3rd inning solo home run
Ryan Fitzgerald 4th inning three-run homer
Triston Casas 5th inning solo shot
Christin Stewart 9th inning three-run home run
What went wrong: WooSox bats finally came alive, but the pitching staff blew up twice and dug holes too deep to climb out of.
Unsung heroes: Eduard Bazardo (2K) and Derek Holland (2K) an inning each of scoreless relief.
Friday

Yolmer Sanchez 3rd inning two-run homer
What went wrong: It would be easier to list what didn’t. The good news is it only counts as one loss.
Unsung heroes: Johan Mieses and Nick Sogard each went 2-4.

What went wrong: A walk, a single, and a home run in the bottom of the 8th turned a 2-1 lead into a 4-2 deficit.
