WooSox Rewind: Worcester swept by Rochester, losing streak hits 10 games

The Worcester Red Sox were hoping a return to Polar Park would get them back to their winning ways, but for the first time in franchise history the WooSox were swept in a series after going winless in six games against the Rochester Red Wings, and have fallen to 15-21 on the season. They are now nine games behind first-place Rochester in the International League East standings.

Rochester 8, WooSox 2
LP: Connor Seabold (3-1)
Big hits:
Jeter Downs 1st inning two-run homer

What went wrong: WooSox couldn’t recover from a Rochester 5-spot in the second, managing only two hits over the final eight innings.
Unsung heroes: Silvino Bracho (K) and Michael Feliz (3K) had two perfect innings of relief each.

Rochester 3, WooSox 2
LP: Kaleb Ort (0-2)
Big hits:
Rob Refsnyder 5th inning double (No Video)
Ryan Fitzgerald 5th inning RBI single
What went wrong: The usually sure-handed Kaleb Ort wasn’t, allowing all three Rochester runs in the top of the ninth.
Unsung heroes: Josh Winckowski (2K), Taylor Cole (3K), Geoff Hartlieb (K), and Zack Kelly (2K) two innings each of scoreless baseball.

Rochester 6, WooSox 2
LP: Darin Gillies (0-1)
Big hits:
Jaylin Davis 1st inning two-run homer

What went wrong: WooSox managed just three after hits after a two-run opening frame.

Yolmer Sanchez 9th inning solo home run (No video)
What went wrong: WooSox allowed another huge inning for Rochester and couldn’t recover yet again.
Unsung heroes: Silvino Bracho (4K) and Phillips Valdez (4K) two innings of scoreless relief each.

What went wrong: WooSox pitching once again dug a hole too deep to climb out of.
Unsung heroes: Christin Stewart 3-5.

What went wrong: WooSox lost two leads and then fell apart in the tenth.
Unsung heroes: Ryan Fitzgerald 2-4 with 2 RBI
Connor Seabold 6IP, 11K, and allowed just one hit
