The Worcester Red Sox went into last week’s six-game series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders needing a sweep and a lot of help to keep their slim playoff hopes alive, and they got neither as the WooSox went just 2-4 against the AAA affiliate of the New York Yankees and now find themselves further behind first-place Durham than when the week started.
Mathematically Worcester is still alive for the International League East Division crown, but with four teams between them and the Bulls in the top spot all the WooSox are playing for over their final ten games is pride.
