Today in Worcester hockey history: September 21


1997 5-2 exhibition win at Providence (Driscoll Arena, Fall River, MA)
The Worcester IceCats got two goals each from Andrej Podkonicky and Jochen Hecht in a 5-2 win over Providence. After the game it was announced Podkonicky was going to be returned to his junior team in Portland, Oregon (Winterhawks – WHL) after training camp and Hecht would be going back to Manheim of the German Elite League for the season. Brent Cullaton had the other IceCats goal while shorthanded, and had an assist. Joel Trottier and Richard Uniacke had the P-Bruins goals. Scott Roche went the distance for the ‘Cats saving 37 of 39 Baby-Bs shots.
