Railers played as bad as their jerseys looked in 6-2 loss to Thunder

Railers_2019

The Worcester Railers went into Sunday afternoon’s contest looking to build on Friday night’s shootout win but instead watched the walls collapse around them as they were outplayed in every facet of the game during a 6-2 loss to the Adirondack Thunder.

Like the Sharkspage days, we’ll go to the video of the game instead of a story/recap. But be forewarned, the Railers looked terrible not only in their play but also in their Marvel “Groot” uniforms. The Thunder are in Spider-Man jerseys, and those didn’t look all that bad.

GAME NOTES
Scratches for the Railers were Ivan Chukarov (day to day/lower), Justin Murray, Tanner Pond (14-day IR), and Chris Rygus. Linus Soderstrom was the back-up goaltender.

While the Railers had spent the weekend in Glens Falls with Saturday night off that wasn’t the case for the Thunder, who were scheduled to play in Portland last night against the Maine Mariners. They made the trek to The Pine Tree State after Friday night’s game with the Worcester, and after the game against the Mariners made what this writer has long called “a mad dash” back home, spending five hours on a bus to get back to the Cool Insuring Arena for Sunday afternoon’s contest.

Speaking of Saturday nights off, Worcester has another next weekend, although they won’t necessarily be spending it lounging around. After Wednesday’s school day game and a rare Thursday night contest at the DCU Center the Railers will head to Brampton to play next Sunday afternoon at 2pm. It’s likely that bus trip to Ontario will take place on Saturday. Amazingly the Railers have the Saturday after that off too, but won’t be busing anywhere as they play at home the next Sunday against Adirondack with a 1:30pm puck drop.

The three stars of the game were
1. ADK – 1 Evan Cormier
2. ADK – 22 Ara Nazarian
3. ADK – 7 Jake Linhart
